Functional Consultant - Business Central

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Functional Consultant specialising in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, with a strong focus on finance and accounting. The ideal candidate will be adept at analysing business processes, identifying opportunities for optimisation, and advising clients on how to leverage Business Central's out-of-the-box features to meet their business needs. This role involves advising on the implementation of accounting processes in BC including optimisation of accounting and controlling processes to meet the BC standard implementation, to minimise customisations, streamline operations, and provide ongoing technical support.

Functional Consultant Key Responsibilities

  • Business Process Analysis:

    • Conduct in-depth analysis of clients' existing finance and accounting processes.
    • Identify areas where Business Central's standard features can replace or enhance current processes.
    • Advise on best practices for implementing Business Central with minimal customizations, focusing on out-of-the-box functionality.
  • Solution Design & Implementation:

    • Collaborate with stakeholders to design solutions that align with their business objectives while utilizing standard Business Central capabilities.
    • Develop and document functional specifications, ensuring they align with client needs and Business Central's functionality.
    • Assist in the configuration and implementation of Business Central, particularly in finance and accounting modules.
  • Technical Support:

    • Provide expert-level technical support to clients, troubleshooting issues, and offering solutions to optimize system performance.
    • Educate and train end-users on using Business Central efficiently, focusing on finance and accounting features.
    • Work with technical teams to resolve any issues that require minimal customisation or additional technical expertise.
  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Suggest and implement improvements to existing client systems to enhance efficiency and reduce reliance on custom solutions.
    • Provide insights and recommendations for process improvements based on system capabilities and industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Functional Consultant specialising in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
    • Strong background in finance and accounting, with a deep understanding of related business processes.
    • Proven experience in advising clients on using standard Business Central features to meet business requirements.
  • Skills:

    • Proficient in configuring and implementing Business Central, especially in finance and accounting modules.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to map business processes to system functionalities.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities, particularly in a technical support context.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Certifications:

    • Relevant certifications in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and/or finance and accounting are preferred.
