Business Central SCM Functional Consultant

Location: Remote (First 2 days visiting sites in Eastern Germany)
Contract Type: Freelance - Mid January start for 8 months
Utilisation: 5 days per week
Industry Focus: E-commerce and Consumer Electronics

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Business Central SCM Functional Consultant to support a client transitioning from multiple legacy systems to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The consultant will play a key role in optimising supply chain processes, ensuring smooth migration, and leveraging Business Central's standard functionality. Expertise in Warehouse Management, Production Planning, and Procurement is essential, along with familiarity with project management tools such as Asana and Jira. Experience in the e-commerce and consumer electronics sectors will be highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and document current supply chain processes across legacy systems and map them to Business Central functionality.
  • Design and implement solutions to streamline warehouse operations, production planning, and procurement processes, minimizing customizations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition from legacy systems to Business Central 24.
  • Configure Business Central modules to meet client-specific requirements while adhering to best practices.
  • Conduct workshops, training, and change management initiatives to support the adoption of Business Central.
  • Utilize Asana, Jira, or similar project management tools to plan, track, and deliver project milestones.
  • Ensure data integrity and successful data migration from the legacy systems into Business Central.
  • Provide post-go-live support and guidance for ongoing process improvements.
  • Advise on e-commerce-specific workflows and integrations, particularly for consumer electronics operations.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Business Central Functional Consultant with a specialization in SCM.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Warehouse Management, Production Planning, and Procurement within Business Central.
  • Hands-on experience migrating from legacy ERP systems to Business Central, preferably in a cloud environment.
  • Strong ability to align business requirements with standard Business Central functionalities to minimize customizations.
  • Proficiency in using Asana, Jira, or other project management tools to manage tasks and deliverables.
  • Familiarity with supply chain workflows and challenges specific to e-commerce and consumer electronics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience conducting workshops, stakeholder training, and process documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central certification.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Power Automate, or Microsoft Power Platform tools.
  • Experience with third-party integrations commonly used in e-commerce (e.g., Shopify, Magento, or logistics platforms).
  • Familiarity with inventory optimization and demand forecasting methodologies.
  • Understanding of ERP implementation methodologies and lifecycle management.
